Canadian Mortgage Rating Service Ltd. ("CMRS")
is a private, federally incorporated Canadian company, with
its head office in London, Ontario.
CMRS serves the commercial real estate finance industry
by providing inspection services on existing income
property loans across Canada.In 2008, CMRS completed over 1,500 inspections across Canada, including the Arctic.
CMRS is committed to being the leading provider of inspection services to the mortgage lending community in
Canada.
David Miller - President
Prior to forming CMRS in January 2004, David spent over
16 years financing commercial real estate with Canada Life
Mortgage Services Ltd., a national mortgage correspondent,
now defunct, due to an acquisition by another life insurance
company.
At Canada Life Mortgage Services, David was involved in
hundreds of millions of dollars of commercial real estate
finance transactions on behalf of life insurance companies,
banks, trust companies, securitized lenders and pension funds,
all across Canada. These transactions included the following
types of residential, retail, commercial and industrial
properties:
- multi family residential loans such as high-rise apartments,
walk-up apartments, row housing, nursing homes, retirement
homes, mobile home parks, non-profit and co-op housing
- retail property financings such as stand alone buildings,
strip plazas, enclosed malls and big-box centres
- office property exposure ranged from second storey office
to high-rise, multi-building complexes
- industrial financings spanned from multi-tenant buildings
with small scale tenants to large, single tenant properties
- various lenders mortgage portfolio valuations,
for the purposes of internal lender ratings and/or sale
purposes
- geographically, David has worked on financing transactions
from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arctic
- David is fully versed with CMHC regulations and inspection
requirements
David graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1984
with an 'Honours Bachelor of Business Administration' degree.
In 1988, he went on to complete an extension course in 'Mortgage
Lending and Brokerage' sponsored jointly by the University
of British Columbia and the Real Estate Institute of Canada.
David, in forming CMRS, saw a need to provide a nationwide
service to the lending community that had been previously
unavailable in Canada on a dedicated basis.
